"The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and the prevention of disease."
--Thomas EdisonThere HAS to be a better way...That‘s what I kept telling myself every time I went to the medicine cabinet to gulp down a couple more Tylenol whenever my headaches started getting really bad. I‘m only sixteen, and I‘ve had migraines like this since I was twelve. It got to the point where I would be sick to my stomach because of the pain and the dizziness that came along with it. The only thing I could do was lay in a dark room until I eventually fell asleep. No, I ‘t need glasses and I‘m not suffering from some kind of brain tumor that causes these migraines. The cause was something that I would have never thought of, and obviously my life-long doctor hadn‘t thought of it either. It was my back alignment.
I have been dancing since I was two and cheering since I was seven, and after awhile, that takes toll on your body. I had also injured my knee at one point along the way, but who would have thought that would affect my headaches? Not me, and probably not you either. The fact of the matter is, everything in your body is connected and when one part of it becomes injured or out of place, it can throw your whole body out of whack. It doesn‘t have to be a huge, traumatizing injury either; it can be an everyday thing that you don‘t even notice. That‘s what I came to realize after I started going to Dr. Sherwood for adjustments, and that is exactly what happened to me.
For my first visit to Dr. Sherwood, I expected to be jerked around until my back cracked in several places, and maybe even a painful experience. The same thought goes through other people‘s minds when I mention chiropractic care and the difference it has made in my life. That‘s not the way it is with Dr. Sherwood. The adjustment was short and painless and left me wondering how something that simple could make that big of a difference. The reality is that it does make a difference, and for me the difference was huge. After a few short visits to Dr. Sherwood my headaches got to be less and less painful, and after a couple of weeks they were gone altogether. My knee started to be less bothersome as well, and now I have very little trouble with it at all. That is amazing to me after having to deal with that struggle for several years and thinking there was no other way to get through the course of my day without a headache, other than taking some kind of pain-killer a few times along the way.
It is not healthy to consume pills everyday in hopes that the pain will go away. They don‘t belong in your body, and taking too many can destroy you. But I don‘t have to do that anymore - my headaches are gone and my knee doesn‘t bother me either. It‘s incredible to me that something like this could help a person so much in so many different ways and so few people know about it. That‘s why I‘m telling you now. It may seem hopeless, and not make sense that this would help you at all, but that is exactly what I thought, and I‘m happy I was wrong.
